I got to Denver on Friday night and woke up to a typical Colorado track season morning. Fortunately also typical, it was a beautiful day for our race on Sunday.

Colorado Reunions
On the return trip from Missouri I made plans to stay with Robert Spell a friend in Denver so I could do the Cherry Creek Sneak. The plan was to do a “Reunion Run” with the usual five of us plus RaShaan. It turned out even better than planned when six more of my former athletes showed up for the race. It was great getting to see so many of them and sharing memories and laughs.

Winter Weather - Travels and Races in April
I got to St. Louis for Easter again this year and while the weather was decent it was nowhere near as nice as last year. As a matter of fact it snowed shortly after and that set the tone for the weather my whole time in Missouri and when I went to race in Kentucky. My thought as always this time of year is, “track season”!

Cooling off Barley’s sweet potato!

We went to Cardinal’s Opening Day and had a good time and then I left the next day for Paducah, Kentucky to do a 5K and get my 30th State. The game was cold but the race was colder!!!

Before driving to Paducah I had to pick up our race packets for Sunday’s GO St. Louis 7K that Stacie and I were running. I left the house early enough to walk around the Jefferson Memorial beforehand.

Then I got to Paducah early enough to visit the riverfront where the Ohio and Tennessee rivers meet. The murals along the river are amazing. I was greeted by snow race morning and had snow a good bit of the drive home. “Track Season”!

The next day Stacie and I were up at 4:00 a.m. to get to downtown St. Louis to do the Mississippi River 7K. We did it for the first time together last year. Before that I had done the half marathon a couple of times with Tom. It was another cold day 28 degrees at the start, but it was still a beautiful morning with the bridges, the river and the Arch.

This trip I probably got out to run in different places less than I ever have before because the weather was more winter than fall. I did most of my running on the trail system by the house but I did get too a few places to run or hike.

My final weekend in St. Louis this trip Stacie and I ran another race a 5K on another really hilly course. After the race we went to Haley’s lacrosse practice and Chase’s game. Then on Sunday we went to the District Art Show to see Haley’s entry.

It was a great trip and I still had time in Colorado that included another race to look forward to.
